First ‘Thor Love and Thunder’ Trailer Reveals Natalie Portman as New Thor

Thor is back. The first trailer for the upcoming Thor Love and Thunder landed on Monday, providing a glimpse of what happened to the Asgardian Avenger following the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. The movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is slated to hit theaters on July 8.

After taking a break from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Natalie Portman is back and stronger than ever in the first teaser for “Thor: Love and Thunder”.

‘Thor Love and Thunder’ Teaser Reveals Natalie Portman as the New Thor

Thor: Love And Thunder

The fourth film in the “Thor” series is directed by Taika Waititi, who directed the well-received film “Thor: Ragnarok”. The film follows “Avengers: Endgame”, ending with Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth), leaving after the fall of the kingdom of Asgard, leaving Earth with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The teaser begins with him being part of the group, with Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel reprising their roles. Previous MCU stars Tessa Thompson and Waititi herself – as rock fighter Korg – will also return in the film. But the trailer’s biggest moment comes in the final seconds, when Portman’s Jane Foster is revealed as the new Mighty Thor.

Here’s a direct synopsis from Marvel, which… was quite surprising in terms of willingness to reveal:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who — to Thor’s surprise — inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” hits theaters on July 8. Watch the full trailer below:

Taika Waititi is confident that Thor Love And Thunder is probably the “MCU’s Best Movie”! The film was directed by him and starred Chris Hemsworth.

In addition to Chris Hemsworth (Thor), the film also gathers an extremely powerful cast – Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Christian Bale (Gorr the God Butcher), Russell Crowe (Zeus), Chris Pratt (Peter Quill), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie). Plus, Matt Damon, Luke Hemsworth, Melissa McCarthy, Sam Neill joined the cameo.

Looking at the huge cast above, it can be seen that Thor Love And Thunder is a key project in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Taika Waititi is back behind the camera, Natalie Portman plays female Thor, former “Batman” Christian Bale turns bad. The MCU manufacturers are clearly very ambitious with this project. Now, expectations for Thor Love And Thunder are even higher, especially as the director is confident this could be the best Marvel movie ever.
