Director Mike Newell recounts trying to teach the twin twins who played Fred and George how to conduct a sequence during filming. They were fighting to get it right because their characters were meant to be somewhat insane in that scene. As a result, the director intervened.

Emma recalls a few awkward occasions when filming the Harry Potter movies, one of which was the scene where she had to walk down the stairs for Yule Ball. She ended up fumbling what appeared to be a simple task.

“He [Newell, the director] was giving me a million directions, and of course, I ended up sliding down the steps,” she remembered.

It’s a wonderful idea to have the actors complete their genuine homework. Everything appears to be as genuine as possible in this manner. The performers were forced to bring in their own real schoolwork from home to do in the classroom sequences, it turns out. “In the exercise books in the Great Hall set, we’d actually do our own school work, wanting to make it look as legitimate as possible,” says Oliver Phelps, who played George Weasley.

Daniel Radcliffe paid the price for such a wonderful scene by getting two ear infections.

“The underwater sequence,” he recalls when asked about the most difficult scene in an interview. I prepared for it for six months. It was suggested that someone else do it and then superimpose my face on it. That would have been a disaster. Despite the two ear infections, I’m delighted I did it.” We now have the coolest scene thanks to his great risk!
