5 Dollar Meal Plan Review: Tired of working late and ordering takeout? Do you miss family dinners with your children? Meal planning can help! Welcome to the $5 Meal Plan – a service that takes indecision out of meal planning and brings quality meals to the table again. Let’s see if it’s really worth it in this 5-Dollar Meal Plan review.
What is a $5 Meal Plan?
$5 Meal Plan is an incredibly inexpensive service that sends you weekly meal plans and detailed grocery lists each week.
Meals cost around $2 per serving, so won’t require you to go out and buy $20 steak or expensive rare vegetables.
You will be provided with 5 dinner meals (the main entree and side dishes) as well as a breakfast and lunch recipe. You even sometimes get dessert recipes or snacks.
Some meals are great for meals in the fridge, others can be cooked in less than 20 minutes, and a ton can be cooked in the slow cooker. They really make sure your nightly meal is simple.
There’s also a gluten-free option on the regular meal plan, which is great for me as I’m allergic to gluten!
Specialty Plans
$5 Meal Plan is a service that focuses on meat eaters, and meat is the main part of most meals. You will not be able to get the meal plan for the vegetarian option in the regular standard option.
Specialty Plans operate on a different schedule than regular $5 Meal Plans, and you’ll get 6 weeks’ worth of meals at once.
There are 4 types of special meal plans available:
- 30 Minute Meals
- Slow Cooker Meals
- Paleo Meals
- Vegetarian Meals
These meal plans will cost a little more, at $8 a month. However, if you’re on a diet or vegan, it can be helpful to have someone give you a grocery list and make great recipes for you.
Getting hungry yet?
Why is it only $5?
$5 Meal Plan isn’t a complicated meal-packing service that sends you ingredients, pre-packaged weekly, so you won’t have to pay for the actual food. $5 is a fair price for someone to plan meals and grocery lists for you!

5 Dollar Meal Plan Review – Pros and Cons
This service has a lot of pros but of course, it also has certain limitations.
Pros
The $5 Meal Plan can make cooking at home a whole lot easier. First, you don’t have to make any plans. No need to search Pinterest and write down grocery lists, you just get it order delivered to you.
Meals are easy to make and can be completed in about 30 minutes and you don’t need to take many steps. They also don’t include any fancy ingredients that will cost you an arm and a leg.
Cons
The first problem with this meal planning service is that the servings are quite large. If you only feed one or two people, you may be left with a tons of leftovers, which is not the best thing for some families.
You can’t use this service to adjust your grocery list based on how many servings you need, so you’ll need to do some math yourself.
If you have any dietary restrictions in your family, most recipes are pretty hard to adjust to. It can be difficult to feed larger families if you have any restrictions, so this may not be for you.
You will also be given a list of recipes and some of them may be things that people in your family don’t like. Which means you’ll still have to figure out your own meal for that day.
The Bottom Line
If you, like me, always have a headache thinking about meal planning on the weekend and preparing healthy dinners every night, the $5 Meal Plan can be a great service to help you. It’s easy enough for beginners to cook and fun enough for adventurous eaters. Plus, for $2 a serving or less, these meal plans will almost certainly save you money.
Not sure if it’s worth it for your family even after reading my 5 Dollar Meal Plan review? You can get a 14-day free trial, which gives you 2 weeks’ worth of menus, to see for yourself. You can easily cancel at any time, so it’s really risk-free.
