According to recent data, 21% of adults in Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2003) identify as LGBTQ+. An increasing number of young individuals are coming to grips with their sexuality or gender identity as a result of societal acceptance. Check out 5 celebrities that openly support their LGBTQ+ family members and utilized their platforms to campaign for their rights in this post.
Chris Evans
His brother, Scott, came out as gay when he was 19 years old. So the Captain America actor proved to be a real-life hero. When Chris Evans called out one group that was organizing a “Straight Pride” event, he rushed to Twitter to defend his brother and the rest of the LGBT community. He also encouraged people to recognize the significance of Gay Pride and to take a minute to look for empathy and progress in another tweet.
Chris attributes his empathy and awareness of LGBTQ+ problems to the progressive environment in which he grew up. Having two sisters in his life also aided him in developing a strong affinity for women and human rights. And it’s no wonder that Chris rushed to Scott’s aid because the two appear to be great friends.
Ariana Grande
The pop icon revealed in a love letter to the LGBTQ+ community that she admired and idolized her gay brother Frankie. And that sexuality and gender were openly addressed themes in their household. Ariana Grande also addressed people who haven’t come out yet, assuring them that they don’t need to rush, that they are beautiful, and that they deserve to love whomever they choose.
Ariana’s initial reply after he came out to her, according to Frankie, was, “Great, when do I meet your boyfriend?” It is demonstrating how welcoming she was of him. He went on to say that the Grandes always put “Family First”. And that they will always fiercely defend one another.
Adam Levine
Thanks to his gay younger brother, Michael, the frontman of Maroon 5 acknowledged growing up in a liberal home and having an open mind regarding sexuality. He also claimed that sexuality is something that is innate rather than acquired. He claimed that he and his family knew Michael was gay when he was barely two years old.
The Levine family sought to provide a “cushion” for Michael. And they did their best to make him feel like it was alright to be himself at all times. Adam also gave some wise words, stating that fighting your child’s homosexuality is a losing battle that would only make the child unhappy.
Cardi B
Hennessy, the Grammy-winning rapper’s sister, addressed bisexuality in an Instagram post, saying, “If you can’t embrace the B in LGBTQ+… then please don’t speak up for the community if you can’t completely understand ALL of us!” Cardi B responded on Twitter by agreeing with her younger sibling’s comments and adding four rainbow flags to her tweet.
Cardi B considers Hennessy to be one of her fortunate charms. And she supports her sister regardless of her sexual orientation. She’s also quite outspoken about how proud she is of Hennessy. As evidenced by this post, she praised her sister for being swaggy, talented, and attractive.
Anne Hathaway
The Devil Wears Prada actor said she was fortunate to be the younger sister of a gay man and the daughter of parents who are both welcoming and caring of the LGBTQ+ community in one of her talks. Being gay isn’t a huge problem in their house. They hugged her brother Mike and made him feel loved as he came out.
Anne Hathaway also stated that she considers herself a member of the LGBTQ+ community’s family, rather than just an ally. And that supporting gay marriage, adoption, and other causes is not “brave”. Because it is something that any moral human being should do.
