A middle-aged guy and his ailing father are the subjects of this moving black-and-white movie. When the former drives the latter from Montana to Nebraska to retrieve sweepstakes win, they are forced to confront their difficult past and present.
Road Trip
For director Todd Phillips, it is his breakthrough picture. The momentum of American Pie was used to propel this outlandish homage to ’80s sex comedies. It tells the story of the mishaps of four college students who have to travel across the nation to get a one-night stand’s unintentionally shipped sex tape back.
My Own Private Idaho
In Gus Van Sant’s state-crossing (and, finally, globe-trotting) voyage of a narcoleptic hustler and his rebellious son of a politician, River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves are absolutely fantastic. They look for solutions to life’s puzzles, both existential and non-existent.
The Long Dumb Road
In this humorous, irreverent, and curiously heartwarming story, Tony Revolori from Spider-Man: Homecoming and Jason Mantzoukas from The League make an excellent team. An unflappable mechanic and a stiff-upper-lipped photographer start off on a road journey together as they make their way from Texas to Los Angeles.
Little Miss Sunshine
Both critics and viewers find it to be a sleeper hit. A dysfunctional family unwillingly joins forces for an 800-mile road journey in this dark comedy, after their small daughter is selected to compete in “Little Miss Sunshine”
A Goofy Movie
The tale of Goofy and his kid Max is surprisingly heartwarming in this Disney animated cult classic. On a last-minute cross-country fishing excursion, they try to get along. But the latter tries to steer them toward a much-anticipated concert.
Dumb and Dumber
It is the adored comedy from the Farrelly brothers. It centers on two dimwitted best friends who try to deliver a briefcase holding ransom money to a woman in Colorado with whom they both fall in love. Besides, they left the bag in Rhode Island.
Midnight Run
Midnight Run centers on a grizzled bounty hunter and an annoying mafia accountant and is arguably the best action-comedy of all time. Besides, in a cross-country race from New York City to Los Angeles, they come into conflict with criminals, the FBI, and a competing bounty hunter.
Kalifornia
In this grim 1993 thriller, Brad Pitt abandoned his “beautiful boy” persona to play a merciless serial murderer. On their cross-country tour of notorious crime scenes, they are a cash-strapped journalist and photographer who unintentionally invite two savage sadists.
Pee-wee’s Big Adventure
It is Tim Burton’s first full-length film as a filmmaker. Pee-wee Herman, a jovial man-child, is the protagonist of this famous road comedy. While scouring the country for his stolen bicycle, he runs with a number of oddball characters.
