Director Reveals Joker 2 Script
On June 8, director Todd Phillips shared two photos of 2019 Joker’s sequel project. The post implicitly confirms that Joker 2 will soon go into production.
In the first photo, the filmmaker took the cover of a script. The red cover was titled Joker: Folie à Deux. Besides, we can see the words “Written by Scott Silver and Todd Phillips” very clearly.
In other words, Todd Phillips has announced the return of himself and Scott Silver as the writer of the Joker sequel.
What will Joker 2 be about?
The line Joker: Folie à Deux has revealed to the audience the first clues about the content of the sequel. You can find the phrase “Folie à Deux” in the US National Medical Dictionary. Its meaning is “a delusion or mental illness shared by two people in close association, usually members of a close family”.
This description makes the audience immediately relate to Harley Quinn. She is the victim of the Joker, a mentally disturbed clown. Moreover, she is a self-proclaimed lover with absolute reverence for this dangerous criminal.
In the DCEU, Margot Robbie portrayed the character of Harley Quinn brilliantly. However, Joker 2019 exists outside of this superhero cinematic universe. So, if the theory that Quinn appears in the sequel is true, audiences may see a new version of this evil female.
Fans also put forward another theory. The phrase “Folie à deux” may refer to Arthur Fleck’s villainous personality being well received by the people of Gotham City. Others have suggested that the sequel will offer Phillips’ own interpretation of the Joker’s life filled with crime and madness.

Apart from the photo above, director Todd Phillips posted a black and white photo. The second photo shows actor Joaquin Phoenix poring over the script. Therefore, the information that Joaquin Phoenix will return as the mad criminal prince is completely accurate.
In Joker 2019, Phoenix plays Arthur Fleck, a distraught comedian who gradually sinks into psychological disorder and violent behavior. As a result, he became the Joker, one of the famous villains of the DC universe.
