Dune is a novel of Frank Herbert. We follow Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) on a perilous journey on the desert planet – Arrakis. This is the only place having Spice compounds. It can help the users increase longevity, open their mind and influence the super subconscious. In particular, Spice is essential for space travel.

To understand the movie well, you must know some extremely important details below.

Firstly, the fictional world of Dune is an empire of planets. At the head of the empire was an emperor, followed by the great nobles. The most powerful family (politically and militarily) is the Atreides on the Caladan planet. Duke Leto, the male lead’s father, is the head of the Atreides.

One day, the emperor ordered Leto to take over Arrakis from the Harkonnens. Thus, the bloody conflict between the two most powerful clans broke out. Paul had to wander the harsh desert of Arrakis. Dune Review 2021: Content, Visual & Cast

Ambitious Content

Dune Review 2021 - Huge Content
Dune Review 2021 – Huge Content

Dune is one of the greatest science fiction novels of all time. So, it’s extremely difficult to turn the massive world of the novel into a movie. However, director Denis Villeneuve made it.

This is an epic movie. The film’s visuals and small details have contributed to honoring a mysterious great destiny. But two and a half hours is not enough to show all the grandeur of the original novel. You have to understand, Dune 2021 is just the starting point for a series.

Besides, if you expected Dune as an action blockbuster, you will be disappointed. The purpose of this movie is deeper than any other meaningless franchise. The manufacturer wants to bring a new definition to the blockbuster brand.

“It is not every fierce confrontation or the scene of spaceships rushing into a massacre, epic fire and explosion to be named a blockbuster movie.”

Dune’s impressive element was the potential danger that was slowly descending upon the Atreides family. Therefore, viewers will experience the feeling of waiting in uneasiness and excitement.

To help the audience really step into the massive world of Dune, the director devoted two-thirds of the film to world-building. In other words, you will feel that the storytelling is uneven, focusing too much on description. However, it is the best way to interpret the key milestones that drove or influenced Paul’s journey. Moreover, we can understand the dangerously situation of the Atreides in the world of cunning and calculating interplanetary politics.

Visual & Cast

The content of the movie can make you feel down, but the image is the undeniable bright spot. Dune is a visual wonder. The whole context of the film really makes viewers feel their smallness before the magnificence of Arrakis. You will be dumbfounded when you admire a Caladan full of life but as sad as Atreides’ fate.

Of course, the cast will also bring you special experiences. Dune is a literary monument, but by no means is it known everywhere. The cast is opposite. They are both famous and extremely talented actors.

All in all, Dune is a cinematic experience worth the money. If you love the massive world in Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter then don’t miss this movie.
